Pure Kino is my online name, though I just go by Kino. I didn’t invent the term, it’s an internet meme.
I make videos on Youtube, mostly around films and television shows I love. I’m most known for my Sopranos videos. I’ve reviewed every episode of the series, as well as created dozens of video essays on the show.
Thanks to my viewers encouragement, I’ve been exploring other critically acclaimed shows as well. You can see my first time reactions to The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men, Better Call Saul, and many other shows on my channel.
I guess technically I’m a “critic”, though I hate the term. It implies there is something special about having thoughts about a piece of media you consumed. I certainly don’t believe I have some unique insight into these shows that no one else ever has. I’m just a guy watching TV, and hopefully I can entertain some people along the way.
If you like listening to my inane ramblings, you can also check my other content. I’ve interviewed other content creators I enjoy. I’ve been honored to have on the king of Sopranos content Borko, legendary machinima director Jon Graham, and many other talented creators.
No One’s A Critic is a semi-weekly podcast I cohost with Macabre Storytelling, another Youtuber. Together we discuss various media and cultural topics, and usually find ourselves in the middle of the ongoing culture war.
Whether you are here for deep critical analysis or a bunch of gabagool memes, I hope you enjoy the content! I’ve been so lucky to have an audience that likes my content, and I plan to continue to make the best videos I can!
